Miscellaneous

Here are a few things I forgot to mention:

Weather: The weather here has been very nice. It hasn't really rained us on yet and the sun has actually been out and shining. At night it gets a bit nippy if you are still out and about. But so far it feels like we've brought the Southern California weather with us to England.

Water: I never realized how accustomed we are to large drinking glasses of water until trying to ask for it here. The Hambletons themselves have smaller drinking glasses so you will have to refill a few times during a meal but at least they do have plenty of water on hand. At restaurants, however, not only do they give you a small glass when you ask for water, but they don't even fill it up completely AND they give you a slightly weird look when you do ask. Then when you do have it, you try not to drink that much during your meal because you never know when the waiter will be back to give you a refill. We definitely did not feel like we drank enough yesterday, which can't be good esp. for Jeremiah, so we are going to try to do better today. I guess the big thing with water over here at restaurants is that if you order it, you actually order a bottle of water that has been imported from France - so it's more special, I guess. As they took so long at the restaurant last night, they gave us bottled water on the house so we got to try it and I'll tell you that I couldn't taste a difference between it and the water they had given me previously. Not sure why people would pay for the "fancy" water.

Thanks again for all your comments. We love reading them. Thank you for your prayers and for your driving tips.

Debbie, we did not have time to walk through the Abbey yesterday but will try to either tomorrow or when we get back to London at the end of our trip. I did see the outside of it and that was very beautiful.

I don't feel sick really at all anymore, so that is good. Jeremiah is a little better but I can tell he's still not feeling very well. He's taking Airborne and we are going to get more fluids in him today and try to get a better night's sleep tonight (odd thing is that we are tired leading up to bedtime, but when we are sitting there in bed, we're finding it hard to fall asleep so we aren't getting quite as much rest as we would like; maybe our bodies are still adjusting.)

Ok, well it's time to brush my teeth so we can be off. Talk to you all later!

Love,
Sara

I think you must have taken the California weather with you--now we have major "May Gray." We are praying you feel better soon Miah. Dad is so proud of you guys being able to take off for a 3 week British holiday at your stage in life. He said most newly married couples would not be able to manage that.
I think I remember Gillian telling me not to drink the water from the bathroom sink at their house? Just thought I'd mention that.
Keep having fun; we're sure enjoying the letters.
Love, Mom and Dad

Hey there,

When you figure out how to reorient the GPS unit to England, let Becky know how to do it. It would help her not to have to figure things out while they are trying to go to Bath.

Love ya all,

Dad Thelin
